Designation of the accrediting entity
Decree-Law 116-A/2006, of 16th June, creates the Electronic Certification System of the State – Public Key Infrastructure and also designates the National Security Authority as the national accrediting authority, according to the established in article 3 of Decree-Law nº 217/97, of 20th August.
Within the application scope of article 1 of this Decree-Law, the National Security Authority is competent to issue the accrediting certificate of the certifying entities exercising the accrediting competencies foreseen in Decree-Law nº 290-D/99, of 2nd August, altered by Decree-Law nº 62/2003, of 3rd April, and in the wording introduced by this decree-law.
The National Security Authority is assisted, in the exercise of its competencies, by the technical accrediting council.
